I really loved the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 designs. Apple used to lead the way in terms of phone design. When people commented on the look of the phone, Apple would always get a pass. These days, Apple seems to play catch-up with everyone else in the market.

Just look at the Galaxy S8. This actually changed a bit of the perception I have for Samsung phones. I actually think that the S8 is one of the most beautiful phones I've seen. Even I have to admit that Apple's design is stale at this point. Until now...

Enter the iPhone X.

The iPhone X is Apple's vision of the future of the smartphone! They ditched the notions that made the iPhone iconic for everyone. Here are the standout features that YOU need to know about the iPhone X:

It's ALL SCREEN!

The biggest standout feature of the iPhone X is the 5.8-inch OLED display! The bezel is barely there! Sure, there is a notch at the top of the phone but I think Apple did it on purpose. Since the home button is gone, Apple needed to differentiate this phone from other Android phones. I think this is a good way to do it. I personally don't like the "notch" but I think it is a good distinction. One reason why that notch is there is because of the...

TrueDepth Camera!

Instead of just having a normal front-facing camera, Apple went ALL-OUT with the TrueDepth camera system on the iPhone X! It enables a lot of new capabilities like Animoji! It basically uses a scan of your face and adds an emoji on it! Here's my favorite one:

Besides animated emoji, the TrueDepth camera enables a new way to unlock your phone.

Face ID

Thanks to the bezel-less display of the iPhone X, Apple wasn't able to put a fingerprint reader under the screen. Instead, Apple utilized the TrueDepth camera to provide a new way to unlock your phone: Face ID.

Using the plethora of sensors found in the TrueDepth camera, it enables 3D facial recognition that claims to have a failure rate of 1:1,000,000. I know there are a lot of criticisms when it comes to facial recognition systems. Apple hopes to change that with Face ID.

Other known features of the iPhone X include the new Apple A11 Bionic chip, dual 12MP cameras with dual Optical Image Stabilization, wireless charging (FINALLY), 4K video at 60fps, and 1080p Slo-Mo video at 240fps! Apple will release the iPhone X in two storage options: 64GB and 256GB. It will be released in the US and 20+ other countries on November 3rd. No word when the Philippines will get it.
