Pope Francis is said to arrive in the country today, January 15. Besides having several public engagements in Metro Manila, he will also visit Typhoon Yolanda survivors in Tacloban City, Leyte. If you're planning to attend any of Pope Francis' events, you might find the following tips from rescue experts very useful.

  1. Bring a travel kit - This includes sunscreen, an insect repellent, and a first-aid kit. It's better to be prepared in case of an emergency.
  2. Pack some snacks and beverages - You'll never know when you go hungry. Bring crackers and candy which can fit in your pockets. Also, make sure to keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids.
  3. Wear comfortable clothes - Besides wearing light material clothing, bring extra clothes and a spare towel. If you'll bring anyone with you or decide to go as a group, a great tip is to wear color-coded attire, which will make it easier for you and your buddies to spot one another in a crowded area during an emergency. Since umbrellas are not allowed, might as well bring a raincoat or a hoodie in case it rains. You can also bring a hat to keep your head cool. Don't forget to bring your fans. For girls, trade your heels for rubber shoes and avoid wearing jewelry at all costs.
  4. Set a meeting place - To avoid sudden loss or accidents, plan a meeting place for your group.
