Good evening, Globe Community! Are there any local developers here ready to create fun apps for the Google Cardboard? Then come and join Globe Labs’ hackathon on January 31-February 1, 2015!
Google Cardboard is a low-cost virtual reality viewer that transforms a phone into a basic VR headset. You can learn more about it here.
This will be the first Google Cardboard hackathon in our country, so Globe Labs (and yours truly, of course) is very excited! The team’s developer relations manager, Anne Michelle Santos, even said: “We look forward to the apps that our developer community will create for Google Cardboard which may eventually be adopted by Globe Telecom for its millions of customers who want a new virtual reality experience with a lifestyle that has gone more digital.”
The 24-hour hackaton is your big chance to show the developer community what you’ve got!
You can create apps in the categories of education, travel/culture (Philippines), gaming, and retail, and get a chance to win cash prizes plus the opportunity to showcase your creation in the Globe Store!
Individuals or groups of four members who could create marketing, games, or educational app for the Ayala Museum, meanwhile, can have a chance to win P35,000 under a special category. The apps will be judged based on innovation, design, level of fun, completeness, and presentation. More details about this here!
The Globe Labs Google Cardboard Hackathon will be held at the Globe Corporate Showroom in Valero St., Makati City. There will also be a Google Cardboard 101 pre-hackathon tomorrow, January 21, in the same venue to give the developers a chance to try out the Google Cardboard.
