Happy first week of February!

For those who are planning to either go out with, or get a present for, someone this Valentine’s Day, part of the pressure is in making sure you have the cash to make it happen. For some, this urgency emerges only in the first few days of the month (like now).

There are actually a lot of ways to save and budget. Most of the time, to put more money in your pocket, you just have to take note of your everyday spending. Here, I got you some few simple tricks that can help you save up quick for Valentine's Day.

TIP #1: SET A GOAL

First up, create a goal that you want to save for. It can be a new gadget for yourself, or money for an out of the country trip, or in this case, a gift for your special someone this coming Valentine’s Day. I swear, a goal will help you keep motivated.

In line with this, it’s also important to create a budget plan and stick to it. Don’t spend more money than you have.

TIP #2: KNOW YOUR NEEDS

When in a shopping mall and you see a cool pair of shoes, or a nice bag, think first: Do you really need it? Remember, there’s a difference between “needs” and “wants”.

TIP #3: SHOP ONLINE

In case you really NEED a new pair of shoes, or a new bag, I suggest you just buy online. That way, you can save on transport fares or gas.

TIP #4: USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

And speaking of gas, better if you ride a public transportation instead of taking a car. And as much as possible, don’t get taxis, especially if the place you're going to can be reached by walking or by riding a jeepney. Just imagine the amount of money you can save!

TIP #5: CUT FOOD COSTS

Since we Pinoys love to eat, most of our expenses go to food. To avoid spending more, you can just bring food or “baon” to your work. That’s way better (and cheaper) than eating at a fancy restaurant or at a fast food chain.

TIP #6: LEARN DIY BEAUTY HACKS

For girls out there, instead of going to waxing spas and salons every weekend, why not do those waxing, manicures, and pedicures at home? There are a lot of video tutorials online that can teach you some good DIY beauty hacks.

TIP #7: HANG OUT AT HOME

Night outs and unplanned gimmicks with your friends can ruin your budget. If I were you, I’d rather ask my friends to just hang out at my home. You guys can cook dinner together, or have some few drinks without spending a lot.

See? Saving money for Valentine’s Day is super easy. Just don’t forget to stick to your budget and always keep your goal in mind. Spend wisely!
