It’s the love month! And I’m pretty sure some of you are already looking for ideas on what gifts to give to your special someone.

Well I’m telling you now, it doesn’t matter how fancy or cheap, or how big or small your gift is. As long as it came from your heart, you’re good! So forget the life-size teddy bears and the expensive flowers, okay? Give your loved ones something unique, something meaningful, and something made by you!

For this week’s #IWantThatWednesdays, I got you some awesome DIY gift ideas for your special someone, for that special day.

What you need:

  • Old playing cards
  • 2 book rings
  • Puncher
  • Pen
  • Colored papers
  • Glue/double-sided tape

How to do it:

Using a pen and colored paper, write short love notes for your Valentine. Your love notes can include some sweet quotes, short letters straight from your heart, or even as simple as written-down dates that mean something to the both of you.

Paste one love note on each playing card using glue or tape, then bind the cards with your book rings, and ta-da!

2. Hand-decorated wine or beer carrier for HIM

Wines are great gifts to give to your man. But how do you turn it into something more sweet and romantic? Decorate it!

What you need:

  • Wine/s or beer in bottles
  • Cardboard cylinder or box
  • Scrapbook papers
  • Colorful decors such as ribbons, buttons, and cut-out letters
  • Paper tag

How to do it:

This is pretty simple to do.

You just have to cover your box or card with a cool scrapbook paper and then decorate it anyway you want. You can even put your special someone’s name on the box using some cut-out letters. Once done, just attach a paper tag to it with your name or a sweet love note. Your guy will like this for sure!

3. Personalized Mugs

Serve him or her coffee with a personalized mug!

What you need:

  • Cheap ceramic mug
  • Oil-based sharpie marker (any color you want)
  • Some sweet sentimental phrases (the cornier, the better!)

How to do it:

Using your oil-based sharpie, write your special message on your cheap ceramic coffee mug. Let the marker dry for 24 hours, and then bake the mug in the oven for 2 hours at 225 degrees to make sure the ink won’t smudge.

4. A Jar of Inexpensive but Sweet Dates

Instead of having an expensive date, why not just give your special someone a jar full of laid-back yet romantic date ideas?

What you need:

  • Jar
  • Cardstock papers
  • Pen

How to do it:

Simply write down your cheap date ideas on cardstocks papers. The date ideas can include a movie marathon, a free massage, a lunch or dinner at a fast food chain. The ideas are limitless!

Once done, place the papers in the jar. If you want, you can also decorate your jar with glitter or pretty stickers.

You see, gifts for your loved one really don’t have to be expensive. You just need to get a little time from your busy schedule, and make your creative side work!
