I’m the type of person who loves to shop online. But the thing is, I hate using my credit card to purchase stuff since I am not very good at staying within my limits. That’s why when I discovered the new GCash MasterCard, I immediately applied for one because I know it’s the answer to my problem.

The GCash MasterCard is a type of GCash card with a MasterCard logo that is linked to my GCash wallet. So basically, it’s similar to a debit card, though the only difference is that instead of pulling money from my bank account, it takes funds from my GCash wallet – which helps me in budgeting my spending since I only have to load the amount I need to make the purchase. This card also lets me shop securely from partner establishments that accept MasterCard as a mode of payment (just like how a normal credit card works).

The best thing I like about this card is that I can use it to purchase my favorite apps. I just have to fund my GCash wallet with the necessary amount, and then input my GCash MasterCard details in the app stores’ payment information, and that’s it!

Aside from that, it also allows me to:

  • Shop, swipe and pay at any of the 33 million MasterCard merchants worldwide
  • Withdraw from any ATM nationwide
  • Load money instantly. You can fund your GCash MasterCard from:

- GCash Outlets

- Mobile Phone Banking

- BancNet ATMs

- Online Bank Transfer

  • Shop online from e-commerce websites and app stores.
  • Pay bills free of service charge
  • View balances on-the-go using your GCash registered mobile number via *143#, GCash App or GCash Online

I got my GCash MasterCard during one of GCash’s on-the-ground activities. You can also avail of yours during those events. For the schedule, you may check the offish website of GCash at gcashmastercard.com.ph or visit the Facebook account of Globe for more details.

Regarding the application, well, I didn’t have a hard time applying for my GCash MasterCard. It’s super easy!

Step 1: Go to any of the GCash MasterCard events

Step 2: Fill-out the GCash service form

Step 3: Present a valid ID

Step 4: Give the payment to the cashier to purchase the card

Remember though that your GCash MasterCard is still not activated when you purchase it. You have to manually activate it via *143# at the booth (just like what I did). Also, you have to be KYC’d to be able to enjoy the full services of GCash.

If you have other questions about GCash MasterCard that weren’t answered here in my post, you can always check out the product’s faqs here. Happy online shopping, Globe Community!
