Long weekends only happen very often so might as well make the most of it. Nah, I’m not telling you to actually go on a vacation or do out-of-doors activities to enjoy those precious days. You can, instead, relax back home on your oversized couch and savor the long weekend with the movies you love.
Here are four of the best action movies you’ll want to watch over and over again this coming long weekend. Enjoy!
Superhero movies never fail to entertain. Iron Man, personally speaking, is one of the action films you'll never get tired of watching. Those who have seen the first installment would know that it circled around Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), an industrialist and genius inventor, building and refining an armored suit to fight crime and terrorism.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
Adventure type films should as well be included in your movie marathon session.
For those who haven’t seen Journey 2: The Mysterious Island yet, this science fiction slash adventure slash comedy film stars Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark of The Hunger Games) playing the role of Sean Anderson. Together with his new stepfather, Hank (Dwayne Johnson), he traveled all the way to Palau to search for the “mysterious island”. Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella Montez of High School Musical) is also in the movie.
Here’s a clip of one of my favorite scenes from Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Giant bees!
The Karate Kid
I’m talking about the 2010 film here. The Karate Kid stars Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith) and Jackie Chan.
Not a fan (as in big, big fan) of Jackie Chan though. The martial arts comedy-drama film is in fact the first movie of him that I have seen, BUT! It has easily made the list of my all-time favorite Hollywood movies. What I liked about The Karate Kid is it’s not your typical martial arts movie. It has a little bit of comedy and drama, and it teaches patience and determination. Remember the famous line from their training? “JACKET ON”.
Here’s a clip of that scene:
What a classic, I know! The coming long weekend is perhaps the perfect time to watch all the best 90’s movies. Several years have passed but until now I still can’t get over Jumanji. The sound of tribal drumbeats are still in my head! LOL.
But honestly speaking, the fantasy adventure film became one of my beloveds. I remember when I was still a kid, I wanted to have a board game like that and play it with my brothers and sisters. Weird.
Below is my favorite scene from Jumanji – the stampede!
And that’s it! FYI, you can stream these four action-packed movies on HOOQ. You know HOOQ? It’s a cool app that lets you download or watch movies straight from your tablet or smartphone.
I suggest you get the app before the long weekend comes so you can find (and download) all your favorite Hollywood and local movies and TV shows, and watch them from the comfort of your own couch.
Enjoy the long weekend, friends!
