This year’s Comic Con which recently concluded in San Diego finally gives us a glimpse of the superfight that director Zack Snyder has been teasing his fans for months now. Without further ado, here’s the first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
As many fans had anticipated, the film begins at the end of Man of Steel. The battle between Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod dealt so much collateral damage to Metropolis that Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), who was actually on the ground at the time and witnessed the destruction of one of his buildings, deemed Superman too powerful to be left unchecked. I can wrap my head around Bruce’s thinking here: what’s stopping Superman, this god, from turning against mankind down the road?
The trailer also debuts Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and a curly-haired Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg).
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is slated for a 2016 release. Directed by Zack Snyder, it’s the film marked to jumpstart DC Comics’ Justice League franchise.
But I find myself wondering, how does Batman intend to take on Superman without leaving destruction behind in the wake of their epic battle? I guess we’ll have to see the movie to find out.
