Here's what we know about Ronnie del Carmen.

  • His real name is Ronaldo del Carmen.
  • Ronnie is from Cavite, Philippines.
  • He was born on New Year's Eve in 1959.
  • He married his college sweetheart, Tess.
  • He wears many hats. He is an animation film director, writer, story artist, story supervisor and production designer.
  • At a young age, he enjoyed staging little dramas and drawing sketches on his notebooks.
  • He landed a role as a painter on the 1979 film Apocalypse Now when he was 15 years old.
  • Ronnie studied in the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising.
  • He worked as an art director for print and television advertising campaigns after college.
  • Del Carmen migrated to the United States in 1989 to pursue a career in film.
  • He was a storyboard artist on Batman: The Animated Series for Warner Bros and a story supervisor for DreamWorks.
  • Ronnie joined Pixar Animation Studios in 2000.
  • He worked as a story supervisor on Finding Nemo (2003), production designer on the Academy Award-nominated short film One Man Band (2005), storyboard artist on Ratatouille (2007) and WALL-E (2008), and story supervisor on Up (2009).
  • His first directorial debut was with the animated short film Dug's Special Mission (2009).
  • Del Carmen co-directed the 3D computer animated film Inside Out with Pete Docter.


He did not only worked in the films mentioned above. Ronnie also has illustrated in comic books such as My Name Is Dug written by Kiki Thorpe and Batman Adventures Holiday Special. He didn't stop there as he has also written a number of comic books including the Paper Biscuit series and And There You Are.
