You may want to refer to this link to set up your iphone 5 for data http://www.globe.com.ph/iphone5-lte

Remember to use the following APN:

http.globe.com.ph if you are using prepaid sim

internet.globe.com.ph if you are on postpaid sim.

          Hope it helps.

Hi thank you very much! I actually called globe to have my lte activated. but I will check the link you sent me. My apn is set at internet.globe.com.ph. Now a colleague of mine told me that 3g is different from wcdma? Is this true?

It's differnet is such a way that WCDMA is the most common implementation or interface standard of 3G falling under the UMTS system (which includes S and HSPA+).In other words, all WCDMA is 3G but not all 3G is WCDMA.

There is also another system implemtation under the CDMA2000 (not GSM) which use the EVDO of which MTI of the Philippines and Bayantel used (don't know if they still use it now but I was able to test this too).

So in layman's terms, for 3g implentation for GSM networks is WCDMA while 3g implementation of CDMA2000 networks is EVDO.

Your friend must be refering to CDMA which evolved into CDMA2000 which is entirely different and not to be confused with WCDMA.

Hope this explanation makes it clearer.
