    Plan 999 upto 3mbps - Speed test result 2.5mbps?

      nag avail ako nitong plan 999 tatoo DSL, 1 week minomonitor ko xa... ang speed ko ngrrun between 2.3 - 2.5mbps thats the highest speed im getting.. san n ung "UP TO 3MBPS"?????

       

      (itong bagong unit ko dati may umuupa na may globe dsl din.. nag avail xa ng 2MBPS, nakikiconnect ako since kakilala ko, at laptop ko gamit nung sinet up ung DSL nya.. ung speed nya pagtnest mo eh 2.3-2.5mbps, consistent un...

       

      di pa mag 3 months umalis nxa at pinaputol nya ang net kasi dami dw extra charge, di ko na hinalungkot kung ano un.. At kami naman lumipat sa unit nya...

       

      Nung lumipat kami sa unit nya, ung internet line nya or cable b yan ang ginamit ng technician para sa pag set up ng internet ko... )

       

      So ginawa ko tumawag ako sa customer support, pinaliwanag nya n di dw tlga 3mbps makukuha kasi may certain speen na mababawas jan...  so tama lng dw ang 2.5mbps (WTFFFF), sinabi ko sa tech support na regarding sa dating umuupa, at same speed lng kami narereceive even 3mbps avail ko at 2mbps ang gamit nya... sabi nman ng tech ung akin dw tama lng dw ung sa dating umuupa naman minsan ganun dw tlga dpende sa cable na nakaconnect.. sa cabinet ata un sabi nya.. ewan di ko gets ang term nya..

       

      ito naman ang point ko, di ako baguhan regarding s pag avail ng internet lalo na dito sa globe..

       

      First - Brother ko nag avail ng 2mbps... ang speedtest nya ay 2.1 - 2.5mpbs (minsan mag peak p ng 2.7mbps)

      2nd- brother ng gf ko nag avail ng 1mbps... ang speedtest nya ay 1.1 - 1.4mbps (ako ang usual gumamit sa net nya since busy xa sa work)

      3rd - dating may ari ng unit nag avail ng 2mbps with landline - speed nya ay 2.1 - 2.5mbps

       

      since may sarili na akong unit.. nag avail ako 3mbps plan - PERO SPEED KO 2.6mbps at SAGAD NA TO...

       

      ANYARE???????

       

      tapas sabihin ng tech support tama lng speed ko?? eh di sana nag avail nlng ako ng 2mb plan, bakit? kasi may LOCK IN PERIOD NA 2 years to... ito ang pinakaworst part.. NDI SINASABI ng mga AGENT nyo regarding dito.. nalaman ko lng nung nakabit na at AKO PA ANG NAGTANONG..

       

      All business talk...FEEL KO NA DAYA AKO, upto 3mbps.. ndi ko ramdam ang "UPTO" kahit isang palo di umaabo dito...

          well if you apply for the 3mbps plan, you get an additional daily usage allowance..

          3mbps = 7 GB per day
          2mbps = 5 GB per day

          he may have a speed above the maximum threshold, he will not benefit from the additional usage allowance, if you're on the 3mbps plan you are assured that your connection will reach 2.3 - 2.5 mpbs, but with the 2mbps plan it's just luck if you get a speed beyond 2mbps..

            Same exact situation here. 3mbps din pero consistent speedtest result ko 2.55 - 2.56mbps. What really bothered me is namention sa akin ng wife ko narinig nya yung tech na nagkabit ng internet kausap sa telepono yung parang system support nila ang sabi 2.5 daw ibigay sa amin. nag speedtest ako in different times - peak hours, morning, tanghali, hapon at gabi, and even countless times ng madaling araw still 2.55 - 2.56mbps pa rin. I am not complaining about the speed - in fact ok na ok nga kasi very stable. Ang reklamo ko is I felt robbed kasi ang pinirmahan namin is yung UP TO 3MBPS, hindi ako nakatikim ng 2.99mbps, not even once. Same question here saan na yung "UP TO?" Tumawag din ako sa hotline - walang idea yung tech support at palaging iniinsist eh yung fair usage policy daw kasi - hindi na ako nag attempt magpaliwanag ulet.

              "Up to 3Mbs (or any speed) " is a marketing term being used by ISPs in the Philippines nowadays. The "Up to (speed)" pertains only to the burst speed which may happen when ideal situations (meaning no other users in the area, line is very clean, etc.) and in no way pertains to the committed speed of the ISP.

               

              Technically, as long as your speed is above 0 kbps and the "up to" speed you subscribed to, then the ISP does not violate anything. However, it has been a standard practice that they provide at least half of the "up to" speed constantly. In other words, a constant speed of 1.5 Mbps should be acceptable for your subscription and getting 2.5 Mbps should make you happy.

               

              It would be different if they removed the words "up to" and just publish their committed speed.

                  Tama kayo dun, sa lahat ng subscription plans meron minimun and burst speed. Globe has commited 80% efficiency ng advertised speed nila - so kung 3mbps ang minimum dapat hindi baba ng 2mbps - "acceptable speed" as referred by the customer service rep. Madaming factors why the speed would deteriorate, like SNR, attenuation, distance from cabinet, number of users - if congested na ba yung area, peak hours, etc etc.

                   

                  This is the trick, ang nasa database ng billing (halimbawa 3mbps) hindi nagrereflect sa actual profile na binibigay ni system support (pwede ka nila bigyan 2.5mbps lang). So system support can play with your profile and billing would never know - and this is confirmed by the tech installer himself. Why do they do this? Sa lugar na puno na ng subscribers (and has all the bad number ng factors mentioned above) ang subscriber na may 3mbps plan may get an actual speed of 1.5mbps lang - system support then will give them a profile higher than what they signed up for to compensate sa lost signal. Sa situation namin mababa ang factors ng signal loss. Yung 3mbps plan ko is binigyan nila kami ng 2.5mbps profile kasi stable naman yung signal dito sa area namin and they know it kaya safe gawin ng globe yun kasi pag tumawag ako saying I am not getting the UP TO 3mbps, they can simply answer its within the "ACCEPTABLE" speed.

                   

                  Why the ruckus? Its cheating. Para kang bumili ng sportscar na may max speed of 240kph sa brochure but when you floor it on the freeway the needle is stuck at 200kph.

                  Again, correct me if I'm wrong but these telcos mislead us in their advertising and in no way do their "up to" speeds reflect the essence of NTC Memorandum 07-07-2011 (Minimum Speed of Broadband Connections).

                   

                  The telco's "up to" speed is a mere tag to give the subscriber the speed subscribed to in a best effort basis.

                   

                  The minimum speed guaranteed by Globe Tattoo for ALL their plans is just, to quote,(notice the fine print and the small lettering?):

                   

                  "**Minimum speed for all plans is 150kbps. Minimum service reliability is 80%"

                   


                  Where "Minimum Service Reliability" according to the same NTC Memorandum is computed as, to quote:

                   

                  [(Hours in a day x Days in a month) - (Time internet connection speed is below minimum)] / (Hours in a day x Days in a month)


                  In effect, the service reliability index would be computed based on 150kbps (minimum speed) and not on the "UP TO" speed.

                    Ang daya naman po. Nung iniinstall ng mga crew nyo yung DSL namin, ang sabi Plan 999 is 3mbps kaya pumayag ako. Nung iniinterview na ko ng mga agent nila, pinasabi ng mga crew 1mbps yung sabihin koI I Hate You! Scammers! Nung bago sila umalis, pinakita ko nung tinest ko sa speedtest.net, 2.98Mbps yung downspeed. Pag alis nila, 0.98Mbps nalang.

                      The speed of your DSL depends on the distance from the facility to your place since there would be a cable loss... and DSL connection as far as I know have 60% speed reliability.

                        you're lucky.

                         

                        I have 5mbps plan for 1500.  Pero nakukuha lang namin ay 1.6-1.8mbps.  Nakailang punta na sila, ewan ko kung anong pinaggagawa.  Still ganon pa rin.  Kataasan ay 2.2 mbps lang.  Naroong kesyo bumagyo.  Ngayon naman daw ay na hack ang system nila.   So eto tatawag ulit ako.
