I want a Nokia X+ instead, the specs seem better than just the X.

Re: Nokia's first Android phone
XyujinX Mar 2, 2014 6:08 PM (in response to jhuan)Based on the news, X phones don't have this Google Play Service. So, ibig sabihin wala itong Google Playstore, GMail and Chrome. Nagrerely pa din yung mga Apps sa Nokia Store and Yandex Store.
Kailangan pang i-root yung para maimaximize yung Google Services.
-
Re: Nokia's first Android phone
neilph Mar 2, 2014 6:32 PM (in response to XyujinX)Just like Blackberry 10, android apps can be ported to, Nokia X. I just don't know if it's that seamless as the BB10
-
Re: Nokia's first Android phone
XyujinX Mar 2, 2014 6:42 PM (in response to neilph)I'm not so sure, but based on reviews, selected apps lang ng android yung pwedeng mainstall sa mga X phones.
Nokia and Microsoft work hard to integrate their core services and apps. As a result, all phones have the excellent Nokia HERE Maps, as well as the Microsoft One Drive (former SkyDrive) and Skype.
-
Re: Nokia's first Android phone
hcescala Mar 3, 2014 8:08 AM (in response to XyujinX)mga 90% ng android apps daw pwede ma port sa Nokia X, yup no google service pero meron naman microsoft services and apps.
Sometimes i wonder why do people need to root their phones unless developer sila? Bili na lang kaya sila ng high end hehe.

Re: Nokia's first Android phone
angelmicx Mar 10, 2014 9:28 AM (in response to jehgan)Wala bang XXXL???
I was thinking that Nokia would reenter the Cellphone race using this.. Tsaka di ba Nokia has been using their Mobile Camera thingy as a selling point? Would this be the same?
-
Re: Nokia's first Android phone
jehgan Mar 10, 2014 9:46 AM (in response to angelmicx)Main point ng Nokia X is to compete with low-priced Android. Nokia X has only 3MP camera while Nokia XL has 5MP rear and 2MP front. But if you want better camera features, then Nokia offers you their Lumia line specifically 720,820,920,925,1020,1520 that has carl zeiss technology with Nokia camera App.

Re: Nokia's first Android phone
itachi1 Apr 4, 2014 1:06 PM (in response to jhuan)I helped my cousin in law get one last night at a Nokia Store. I must say for a sub-6k phone this is a promising one. The physical build is sturdy and looks durable. The memory card slot and SIM slots (yup, dual-SIM version) are underneath the hood just like most others. Yes, it kinda lags (or I'm comparing it too much to high-end phones) and its Store app has limited selection, yet I can't complain about it. The UI is Asha-like but it's only when you get into Settings that the interface becomes... oh hello Jellybean.
Speaking of its Store app, this is where it becomes tricky because it has no Google app whatsoever (Gmail, Maps, Youtube, etc.), some of which were replaced by proprietary apps (e.g. Nokia Here). The bundled apps are almost a steal, except most of them are demo apps. So I dumped them and sideloaded APKs, most of which worked (yup, dumped the Asha UI for Apex Launcher) except Candy Crush.
The camera shots are pretty decent, considering this is a 3MP with no flash nor auto-focus. Its features and settings are also pretty limited, but hey, you only got this cheap right?
Overall, no complaints on my short experience with this phone. I did forget to mention though that the speaker works loud and somewhat clear. Oh and it has good headsets as well, just don't mind the color 'cause whatever handset color you choose, the bundled headset only comes in one color... and only girls might appreciate it.
