    Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE

    MaquiSinco

I got my Samsung Galaxy S4 last wednesday, but up to now I haven't received any LTE signal, I only get H+. Based on what I've seen on Youtube videos of the S4, I should get 4G instead of H+ on my screen. I've been around Katipunan, places where friends have been able to get LTE coverage with their iPhones.

Are there settings that I need to alter? I tried calling the Globe hotline but there wasn't anyone picking up.

Hi maquiSinco you can tweet @talk2globe for your concern. I am not familiar for android LTE settings but you what you can do is check your sim if it has the mark of 4G LTE, if so contact globe to check if LTE is activated on your sim/account. When contacting Globe prepare you sim serial number.

I too have availed the GS4 last week. They said that they are still on the process of activating LTE for GS4 with no definite schedule.

Hi, i just got my s4 from globe postpaid. I'm not getting any LTE signal, just the H+. Do I need to ask globe to activate my sim for LTE? Or are they not yet supporting the S4 for LTE? Btw, my postpaid sim is a 128XL postpaid sim with the 4G LTR blue circle icon on the plastic card that you remove the sim from.

Just to share my experience this morning about my case: as I have posted previously, I have an S4 with a postpaid sim. But I was only able to get H+ signals, so this morning I talked with live chat agent via talk2globe. She told me that I have an LTE sim, but it was not activated by default. So she got my details to verify and said that I would have the LTE provision within 48 hours.

I got LTE an hour after the conversation! :smileywink:

Hi putete you can change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA then check is 4G icon is present and you current location has known LTE signal. Check with Globe if your sim is LTE ready and have it activated if not you may need to visit a store and replace your sim with LTE ready

thanks hcescala but if i change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA(auto) would it choose LTE over gsm and wcdma? because based on my experience it always chooses gsm over wcdma over lte (slowest to fastest)and not the other way around, Im leaning towards an LTE only connection like wcdma only

Yeah. I called several times at the Hotline to have my LTE activated. They provided 3 Case numbers already and they said that the Turnaround time is 24 hours. I have waited for 24 hours and still no response from 8888. I then called back today after 7 days and they mentioned that its still ongoing they will be forwarding the escalated case to be "priortized" and aagin the turn around time is another 24 hours. Im tired of waiting so I will be going to the Globe Business Center later to have it checked. Let's see what Happens.

Kahit man lang sana maactivate, and im ok with 3G signal.
Haist... Globe service is so disgusting.
they cant access my account because online department is the only one to activate my SIM. i applied thru their online application. Its been 17days today. Customer service is useless.

How would you find out of your LTE signal is active? Do we really have to go to a Globe Center (since calling the hotline appears to be useless)? I also have had the S4 since May 16th - first I had issues with the activation of the sim card, I had to go back to the Globe Center to have my sim card changed - Then it worked. Now I am wondering if this LTE thing is active or not or if you have to go back to Globe again to request it to be activated?! I am so hesitant on calling the hotline because they have not really been that helpful - Once I called to have my billing address changed, and they didn't change it. Then I did the changes via the web and it changed right away. I wish there was just a portal where we can create and monitor our own tickets of our issues, concerns and requests.... *sigh* Please advise.

Hello! This might help. I was finally able to talk to someone from Globe who made sense.

Settings> connections> more connections > mobile networks > access point names

If you dont have APN for internet, create one.

                                  Name: myGlobe internet
                                  APN: internet.globe.com.ph

Set this as default. Instantly, i got 4G signal. :smileyhappy:

                                  Enjoy!

GUYS, INORDER FOR YOU TO ENJOY LTE, YOU MUST CHECK FIRST THE AREA IF ITS COVERED WITH LTE (4G) SIGNAL. THE 3 COMPONENTS OF ENJOYING LTE ARE: (1) HAVING AN LTE CAPABLE DEVICE; (2) SHOULD HAVE AN LTE SIM PROVIDED BY YOUR POSTPAID LINE; (3) YOU SHOULD BE WITHIN THE AREA OF LTE. INORDER TO CHECK THE AREA, YOU CAN CHECK INFO FROM www.globe.com.ph FOR THE LTE COVERED LOCATIONS. HOPE THIS WOULD HELP.

Got 4G signal in makati and quezon city these past two days. But it's not consistent. I got my S4 in 2nd week of May and it's only now that i noticed the 4G. The lady from Globe who sold me the unit said that the phone will display the letters "LTE" . But my office mate said LTE is only displayed in Iphones.

I got my Galaxy S4 and LTE sim from Ayala Tower One last Wednesday and they said upon activation of the sim that already includes LTE. Until now, Sunday, and after numerous follow up with Talk2Globe Twitter Chat, still have no LTE!:smileysad: I did the restart and reset network settings and still no avail....

Ako swerte na pag naka 100+ kb/s. Ouch.

Depende kasi yan sa lakas ng LTE signal. Im getting around 8mbps sa dl at 5mbps sa ul dahil 0-1 bar lang 4G signal ko dito sa house at nawawala pa minsan. If you are getting at least 3 bars, you should get decent speeds of 20mbps or more. Pero minsan kahit full bar yung LTE signal 12mbps lang yung speed. Duno why.

Pardon me for asking the same question, but I gather based on the response of the other members, that there seems to be no one solution for the LTE activation while using a Galaxy S4.

For those who have experienced having the H+ signal, despite an LTE enabled SIM, what measures have you taken to address your concern? Is it absolutely necessary to have the SIM replaced, or is it a matter of entering manual settings on the phone?

I already had my SIM replaced once.  I work at BGC, which is one of the areas with LTE coverage.  I've been bugging @talk2globe (twitter) about this, to no avail.  I don't know why they can't address this issue, when in fact, thru this thread alone, it is not an isolated incident.

Whenever I'm in the EDSA lane, I always get a 4G signal (meaning 4G LTE).

There are 4. pre-requisites before you can enjoy LTE service.

                                                            1. You must have an LTE-capable device (which you already have, as long as the setting is correct @ Settings > Connections > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > LTE/GSM/WCDMA

                                                            2. You should have an LTE-enabled SIM card. The SIM holder should say GLOBE 4G LTE. It must be postpaid. LTE is not yet available on prepaid.

                                                            3. The SIM has to first be activated by a Globe Technical Support specialist. Activation may take from hours to WEEKS!

                                                            4. You should be in an LTE-covered area. EDSA is covered, Makati, and many parts of Metro Manila.

Having marked all four off, your S4 should display 4G after reboot.

I prefer H+ which is faster, so is 4G already the LTE?

                                                                Thank you.

                                                                    lawrence0921

Yes. the 4G indicator the S4 device is already indicative of LTE connection, as that LTE is a type of the 4G signal band like that of 4G HSDPA+.

I'm not so sure why your LTE connection is 'slow' since I'm able to get LTE speeds from 8 MBPS to a staggering 28 MBPS in my experience. I work in Buendia in Makati, and I live somewhere in San Mateo, Rizal. I believe I'm just lucky to be in an area endowed with fulls bars of LTE connection.

I sometimes experience reduction in speed with the LTE signal when the signal bars drop from 3-4 bars down to 1 bar or none. The speed would be really slow. After a few seconds, my S4 device would switch to another signal band which is HSDPA+ or H+.

I am a Globe postpaid subscriber initially with my iPhone 5 and when I went to Manila, I was able to use LTE connection, somewhere in QC. But when I changed my handset to S4, even I was in Makati when I tried to connect using my data, it's just H+. I bought my S4 from a legitimate cellshop and until now I cannot connect for LTE (4G). I didn't inquire yet from any Globe stores because I am so far satisfied with my H+ connection since I live in Pampanga and work in Bulacan (I believe not yet covered with LTE i n those areas).

But my officemate which we bought applied for iPhone 5 Globe plan he is still using ip5 handset until now, he can get LTE connection even we are in the same area here in Bulacan!

Does my S4 have any problem with LTE connection?

But my phone is way faster than theirs. Speed ranges from 14mbps to 20mbps when on full bars of 4G. It seems that the GT i9505 model of this phone does not display LTE mode on the screen but the speed is the same.

Hi, I am just new for this S4 phone plan and can't believe that on the very first day I am not satified with this.

                                                                        Here are my problem:

                                                                        - The SIM is not yet LTE activated which should already be as your customer service said so.

                                                                        - The phone/SIM doesn't retain its internet connection. I have to restart the device again and again just to have a connection. When I didn't want to use my net for about an hour, It will be lost forever as in I can't connect either WCDMA/LTE/GSM which will cause to reboot the unit again just to have a connection.

                                                                        - Whenever I am browsing and someone else called/texted me, the internet connection will be lost.

                                                                        - Changing the setting the Network Mode will also result in net disconnection and will not be able to detect it anymore which will also result to rebooting the device.

As troubleshooting goes, I have tried my SIM on other smart phone device and found out that my SIM is working with the net connection but still not 4G/LTE. Also I have tried to insert a SIM from my friends with the same plan as mine to my new S4 and their SIM is working fine with 4G/LTE and also does not disconnect whenever I do network troubleshooting.

                                                                        To GLOBE Community,

Can you please explain to me the exact problem I am having because the resolution I thought for this will be a replacement of the unit or adjusting the network configuration or both?
